Oral Health Program
To achieve optimal oral health for all by eliminating oral health disparities in Rhode Island.
What we do
- Increase oral health messages delivered to Rhode Islanders across the lifespan.
- Continue promotion of SEAL RI! (school-based dental sealants) program.
- Maintain effective Community Water Fluoridation in Rhode Island public water systems.
- Increase the number of children under two years of age who have a preventive oral health visit.
- We work to integrate oral health into overall health. Patients who have a substance use condition can experience high rates of dental disease due to a variety of factors, including side effects from substance use, diets high in processed sugars, compromised self-care, and socioeconomic barriers. Learn more through the "Oral Health Guidance for Healthcare Professionals Treating Patients with Substance Use Conditions" factsheet.
Accomplishments
- Hosted the 2017 RI Prenatal & Pediatric Dentistry Mini-Residency for 110 oral health professionals for the past eleven years. This Mini-Residency increases the career opportunities for oral health professionals and access to the marginalized communities.
