International organizations in Peace and conflict International organisations are formed with specific mandates at various times. Like other fields of endeavour, such organisations abound in the field of peace and conflicts. These organisations, which are one way or the other involved in crisis management, vary with regards their nature (focus), general structure and culture organisationally. They are living organisms that were created during a specific time in history and have evolved ever since. The degree of organisational learning, capacity for managing change, types of personalities in senior management and flexibility of structures are all factors that influence the extent to which an organisation is able to adapt to changing environments. Similarly, these traits as well as the nature of the organisation play an important role in shaping the setup and functioning of peace operations or crisis management missions. The global society are in a constant state of development. This evolution processes affect all spheres of human life and nature. While some states champion this state of development, others try to prevent any change in the political map of the globe and make strenuous efforts to maintain the existing status quo in world politics and international relations. A bid to Maintain the existing status quo and resist change could lead to undesired and uncontrolled changes which will more or less result in Nation States losing much more than would normally have been lost as a consequence of voluntary concessions. The major champion of this change is what is referred to in literature as globalisation. The term globalization has led to reduction in government's role and an increasing role for non-state actors in world politics. (Wolff, 2010) 1.
